The third week from the Malta Premier League of Darts took place at Uncle Matts Kitchen, Marsascala which saw Norbert Attard and Albert Scerri continuing on their winning streak and Godfrey Abela, David Attard claiming their first wins in this competition.

Vincent Busutill v David Attard 1-4

D.Attard claimed his first win of this campaign as he defeated team mate V.Busutill in a match which saw both players not hitting top form. Attard took a 2-0 lead with Busutill replying back with a win in the third leg to reduce the deficit. This setback did not affect Attard as he made sure of victory with wins in the next two legs and now is level with Busutill in fourth place on one win and two defeats.

Albert Scerri v John Ciantar 4-1

A result which might suggest a one sided match but this was far away from what actually happened as both players performed exceptionally well with 3 darts averages of 80.34 for Ciantar and 88.98 for Scerri which is to date the tournament`s highest. The first two legs shared with Ciantar claiming the first on a 126 finish on the bull and Scerri replying on a 121 finish also on the bull in the second. Ciantar missed a couple of darts on the doubles in the next three legs which proved crucial as Scerri claimed all three for a third win as he remains unbeaten in this campaign.

John Agius v Norbert Attard 0-4

Two players with maximum points faced each other in the third match of the night with Attard coming up on top in a 4-0 whitewash win. Once again a result which might suggest a one-sided match but this wasn’t the case as the downfall for Agius was the handful missed darts at the doubles in the opening two legs.

Godfrey Abela v Brian Abela 4-1

Two players in search for their first win closed off the night with G.Abela winning against his team mate in a match which could have gone either way. B.Abela won the first leg and could have won the second, fourth and fifth leg as well but a couple of missed darts at the double proved costly as G.Abela seized the opportunity to claim his first win.

Standings: 1st A.Scerri, N.Attard – (3-0) 2nd J.Agius – (2-1); 4th G.Abela, V.Busutill, D.Attard, J.Ciantar – (1-2); 8th B.Abela – (0-3).
Statistics: Best 3-dart average – A.Scerri – 88.98; Best leg – N.Attard – 14; 180s – D.Attard – 1; Highest checkout – J.Ciantar – 126.
