The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) was formally set up by the Malta Travel and Tourism Service Act (1999). This clearly defines its role – extending it beyond that of international marketing to include a domestic, motivating, directional, coordinating and regulatory role. The Act strengthens the public and private partnership in tourism through greater and more direct participation by the private sector in national planning and development of the industry.
As an agency under the responsibility of the Secretary Parliamentary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport within the Ministry for Education and Employment, SportMalta’s core purpose is to inspire Maltese and transform the nation through sport.
Through innovative, fun and meaningful sporting experiences, our mission is to reach out and serve communities across the country with passion and pride. Our mandate goes beyond winning medals.
Sport Malta uses sport to create greater sporting opportunities and access, more inclusivity and integration as well as broader development of capabilities.
At Sport Malta, we work with a vast network of public-private-people sector partners for individuals to live better through sports.
