Malta Darts Association`s top-level achievements in the past two seasons:

SEASON 2015/16

Malta Darts Association in the Media.
▪ 72 newspaper features, 5 TV sports news features, 7 TV sports program features, 8 sports magazine features, 85 online local sports portal features, 6 live steaming events (inc. Finals night of Malta Open).

Malta Darts Association – Other areas.
▪ Internal restructuring with the aim to provide a more professional approach.
▪ Commenced negotiations for project 2017 Malta International Open – Category 1.
▪ Ground work done to move sport closer to youths/schools.
▪ Commenced talks with Kummisjoni nazzjonali persuni b` dizabilita to make sport accessable to all.
▪ Concluded the first sponsorship deal for the 2016/17 Premier League of Darts.
▪ Delivered the 1st ever Darts Exhibition featuring two PDC professional players.

SEASON 2016/17

Malta Darts Association in the Media.
▪ Increased our exposure in the media on all fronts (TV sports news; newspapers; online portals; TV programs etc…).
▪ Doubled the number of live streaming events from the previous season (6 > 12).
▪ 2 Promo videos completed (1x Malta Open; 1x Premier League).
▪ Concluded the ground work for the upcoming new MDA website.

Malta Darts Association – Other areas.
▪ Continued in increase awareness of the sport locally and internationally. Locally – We had 6 new teams joining (Higher number expected in 2017/18); Internationally – Recognition of our work from various top people in the World of Darts.
▪ Concluded negotiations for project 2017 Malta International Open – Category 1.
▪ Commenced the schools project “Learning mathematics through darts” at the Handaq Secondary School. Various other schools have expressed interest already for next year.
▪ Delivered the first ever, Charity event “Bullseye for Charity” in aid of the MCCF. This was the first of many projects the association is planning to do in relation to making the sport accessable for people with disability in collaboration with KNPD.
▪ Delivered the first ever Malta Premier League of Darts, a competition for elite players in which the National champion and the National team are decided from.

Option 1 – THE MALTA INTERNATIONAL DARTS OPEN

The biggest event on our calendar is the Malta International Darts Open, which is one of the tournaments on the World Darts Federation (WDF)/ British Darts Organisation (BDO) calendar.

Information about the “Malta Open”
▪ A 3 day event taking place in November.
▪ 509 entries spreading over 22 European countries took part in the 2016 event.
▪ The 2016 event took place at the Topaz Hotel in Qawra.
▪ The 2017 event will take place at the Cottonera Sports Complex and will be showcased as a highest category event on the World darts calendar.

What does the sponsorship deal consists of and what exposure will you receive?
▪ A deal can be tailor made to the sponsorship requirements depending on the agreement reached between both parties.
Some of the benefits consist of:
▪ Branding and activation opportunities during the event/s.
▪ Media Exposure (official poster; press-releases, promo-video etc…).
▪ Promotion nights can be carried out by the sponsor.
▪ Finals night is live streamed for a very sizeable audience world-wide.

Option 2 – THE MALTA PREMIER LEAGUE OF DARTS

A new competition (commenced 2016/17) for local elite players in which the National Champion and the National Team are selected from.

Information about the “Premier League”
▪ Top 8/10 players in the country will play in a round robin league format followed by finals night.
▪ Four to six qualifiers take place between October – December.
▪ Second stage matches to be played on Wednesday evenings spread out between January – April.
▪ Venues still TBC but the aim is for the matches to be played in eight different localities across Malta (sponsor can suggest some locations).

What does the sponsorship deal consists of and what exposure will you receive?
▪ A deal can be tailor made to the sponsorship requirements depending on the agreement reached between both parties.
Some of the benefits consist of:
▪ Branding and activation opportunities during the event/s.
▪ Media Exposure (official poster; press-releases, promo-video etc…).
▪ Promotion nights can be carried out by the sponsor.
▪ All second stage matches are live streamed on the association`s You-tube channel.

On the low end we are also offering an opportunity to sponsor one of the players (logo on playing shirt) for as little as €120.

Option 3 – NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

The association runs various national competitions with the season commencing in October and runs until May.

Information about the “National Competitions”
▪ The 2016/17 season featured 23 teams spread-out across various locations in Malta.
▪ The 2017/18 season is expected to feature approx. 30 teams (+7) which will include the first team in the Sliema/St. Julians area and a team composed all by female players.
▪ Currently matches are played on different mid-week days with the National league matches played on Friday nights.
▪ In total we run 3 National league divisions, 2 team cup competitions and 2 singles/doubles cup competitions plus various other ad-hoc competitions through-out the year (Ranking events; Ladies Championship etc…).
What does the sponsorship deal consists of and what exposure will you receive?
▪ A deal can be tailor made to the sponsorship requirements depending on the agreement reached between both parties.

Some of the benefits consist of:
▪ Competition/s to be branded/named on behalf of the sponsor.
▪ Branding and activation opportunities during the event/s.
▪ Media Exposure (official poster; press-releases, promo-video etc…).
▪ Promotion nights can be carried out by the sponsor.
▪ Selected number of matches are live streamed on the association`s You-tube channel.

Option 4 – NATIONAL TEAM / FOREIGN APPEARANCES

The Maltese National team takes part each year in a foreign competition which is either the WDF World Cup or WDF European Cup or Mediterranean Cup.

Information about the “European Cup / Med Cup”
▪ The European cup is the biggest National team competition in Europe. Malta took part in the 2016 edition taking place in Holland and achieved great results. Team event – Won their group against Germany, Iceland and Luxembourg and then lost at the last 16 stage against Scotland. Individual event – Maltese player, Norbert Attard won a bronze medal. On the way to this achievement he eliminated 2015 World Darts Champion, Scott Mitchell and #1 ranked played, Darius Labanauskas.
▪ The Mediterranean Cup is a competition taking place every 2 years for countries surrounding the Mediterranean sea. The 2017 edition was held in Paris, France with 8 countries participating and once again the Maltese team achieved great results (2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal).
▪ Next competitions: 2018 – WDF Europe Cup in Hungary; 2019 – WDF World Cup in Romania.
Information about the “Foreign Appearances”
▪ Each year a number of talented local players test their skills in tournaments across Europe which fall under the WDF/BDO calendar.
▪ In the 2015/16 season the final of the Italian Open was contested between two Maltese players.

▪ National team / Individual player would contain sponsor on the playing shirts.
▪ WDF World Cup & European Cup is live streamed on-line with a large viewing audience around the world.
▪ Media Exposure (press-releases, articles etc…).

Option 5 – SCHOOLS & SOCIAL PROJECTS

In the season 2016/17, the Malta Darts Association launched a new schools project entitled “Learning mathematics through darts” in collaboration with the Ministry of Youths, Sports & Voluntary organisations. This project is endorsed by former parliamentary secretary Hons. Chris Agius and current parliamentary secretary Hons. Clifton Grima.
At the end of the 2016/17 season, a collaboration between the Malta Darts Association and the Kummisjoni Nazzjonali Persuni b` dizabilita was born with the first ever charity event in aid of MCCF was completed. The event carried the name of “Bullseye for Charity”. This charity event was attend by Her Excellency, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta.

The association will strive to continuously growing these two social projects and more in the coming years.
