NORBERT ATTARD CROWNED MALTA SINGLES CHAMPION
The final stage of the Malta Singles Champion came to an end in the month of April with Norbert Attard being crowned champion for the 2nd time in his career. At the end of the round robin group stage three players ended joint top with ten points; Norbert Attard, Albert Scerri and Gordon Stanmore so play-offs had to be played with Attard coming on top in a 3-2 win against Scerri after both players won their encounter against Stanmore.
On the night we saw a very high level of darts with the various 180s hit, high checkouts and international level 3-dart averages with Attard and Scerri averaging 85.00 and 88.38 in their encounter and Attard toping that against Stanmore with a 90.31 average.

NATIONAL TEAM FOR THE 2016 WDF EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The National team which will represent Malta in the WDF European Championship later this year in Holland has been decided. The team lacks no experience as it includes, 28th time national team player Vincent Busutill; current Malta singles champion and Malta Doubles champion Norbert Attard; 2015/16 Super cup winner and current leader in this year`s player of the year award, Albert Scerri and finally Gordon Stanmore a player which has represented our country on 13 occasions and won various honours along the way.
We have taken comments from two national team players on what is next for them after a very successful season.
Norbert Attard – “Now my focus is on the WDF European cup as this will be the first time taking part in a major competition. I will be using this experience to prepare myself well for next year`s domestic season but also as preparation for the BDO World Masters taking place at the Copper Box Arena, London in November”.
Albert Scerri – “My short term focus is to keep the top spot in the player of the year race with only a few weeks left for the season to end. After that I will be training day and night to ensure I am ready for what is ahead, mainly the European championship, Malta Open and the upcoming season”.
SUPER CUP: ALBERT SCERRI WINS THE TITLE
Albert Scerri claimed one of the major honours on the local darts calendar by defeating Norbert Attard 2-1 in sets in the final. On the way to the final Scerri only lost two legs and saw of the challenge four time national team player John Ciantar 3-0 and twenty-eight time national team player Vincent Busutill with the same score line.
MALTA DOUBLES: ATTARD BROTHERS CROWNED MALTA DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
Norbert and David Attard of Marsa St Michaels were crowned national doubles champions as they defeated Andy Keen and Gordon Stanmore of Kalkara St Joseph in the final 4-2. The match started out very balanced with the opening four legs shared, but the Attard brothers stepped up their game and managed to claim the next two to win the first major honour of the season. In total seventy-six players took part in this competition which is very encouraging for the sport on the island.
