Press Release: Week 12 – Season 2016/17

The much anticipated weekend top of the table clash between Floriana Ajax A and Kalkara St Joseph ended all square with both teams playing exceptional darts. After game-week 12 both teams lead the way on 31 points but Mosta Horseshoe Bar A took full advantage of the outcome as they comfortably defeated Bormla Bocci Club 7-1 and now are only three points behind the leaders. The first four matches all went with throw with John Agius and John Ciantar winning for Floriana and Kirsten Aquilna winning twice, in the singles and the doubles with partner Gordon Stanmore which meant the score was all square at the mid-way stage. Norbert Attard gave the hosts the lead again with a win in game 5 which boosted the home side as in game 6, Vincent Busutill also won to give the Greens a two game lead and a point secured. Kalkara needed a reaction and they found it through Emmanuel Ciantar winning game 7 which meant that the outcome of the match would be decided in the deciding leg. In a game which could have gone either side, the visitors came on top with Ciantar/Keen edging out the Attard brothers 3-2 to ensure that Kalkara don’t leave empty handed.
