Press Release: Week 2 – Season 2016/17


Hamrun Education Bar B v Mosta Horseshoe Bar B 3-5

This week`s game of the week comes from the newly formed 3rd division as two potential title contenders faced off in week 2. The first four matches all went against the throw with the hosts winning matches through Ronald Chappel in the singles and the same player together with Anthony Cutajar in the doubles and the visitors winning two singles matches through Edward Azzopardi and Enrico Scerri. After the midway point, Mosta Horseshoe B started the better and managed to open a two game lead over their opponents with wins coming from Joe Mangion and Paul Salnitro. Hamrun Education Bar B kept their hopes of gaining some points alive with a win in the 7th game from Anthony Cutajar to go into the last match needing a win to earn a point, but the visitor`s pair of Salnitro/Scerri came on top to secure all three points for Horseshoe B and maximum points after two game-weeks.

The second qualifier of four from the Malta Premier League of Darts saw David Attard and Godfrey Abela join Norbert Attard and John Ciantar at the finals stage.
Some very good level of darts was on display during these qualifiers with David Attard eliminating George Mizzi 3-0, Kirsten Aquilina 3-1 and Brian Abela 3-1 on his way to the final, which saw Attard edging out John Agius 3-2 to secure a spot at the finals. Godfrey Abela saw of the challenges of Andre Zammit 3-1, Chris Cohen 3-1 and Andy Keen 3-0 before facing off against his teammate, Albert Scerri in the final which was required a deciding leg to determine the winner.

The third qualifier will take place on Wednesday 2nd & Thursday 3rd November 2016.


The group stages of the 5 a-side cup competition commenced last week with the following results recorded:
