Kalkara St Joseph and Marsa St Michaels march on
Title contenders Kalkara St Joseph and Marsa St Michaels ensured maximum points in the month of March as the season is fast approaching its climax.
With only five matches to go and two points separating both team the head to head encounter scheduled for the 22nd April will surely decide who will be crowned champion this season. At the other end of the table Birkirkara Juventus Vero Amore look destined to play in Division Two next season with either Hamrun Education Bar A or Gudja POs Bar A joining them. The latter team currently enjoys a five point lead.
In Division Two, the two promotion places look to be almost done and dusted with Mosta Horseshoe Bar and Gudja POs Bar B sitting comfortably in first and second respectively.
In other news, the first phase of the National team selection was completed with sixteen players booking their place at the next stage. Comments from three players on their chances of making the selection (top 4).
Albert Scerri – National team player for the last five years: “All depends how I play on the day but if I’m on form I expect to make the squad”.
Gordon Stanmore – Thirteen time National team player: “I rate my chances at 90%. I`m playing well at the moment so my aim is once again to be part of the selection”.
John Agius – Up and coming young player: “This is only my third year playing the sport and I believe in my potential/ability so I rate my chances high but but all depends how well I play on the day”.
